Yes, Restoring my foreskin has been worth it!

by Tally on November 30, 2010

YES! Foreskin restoration is worth every tugOn both of the restoration communities where I am a member, people are questioning if foreskin restoration is worth it.

The short answer is YES!

I am not yet finished restoring, but I have reached my main goal. I have full flaccid coverage with some overhang, most of the time. Restoring my foreskin has been worth every tug and every minute spent tugging. I just wish I knew about it years ago. Read more . . .

Thanksgiving turkey with a penis

by Tally on November 25, 2010

A picture of a turkey head (the one on top of its body)Every once in a while I like to check out the statistics of my blog. I know how many people visit my site every month (about 4500 for November 2010). I also know how many come to my website by using a search engine (60%).

I also check out the seach words that people use to find Restoring Tally. Normally, the words and phrases people use to find my blog make sense. But not always.

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. While checking out the site logs, I noticed that one visitor used Google to search for a "picture of thanksgiving turkey with a penis." Really? Read more . . .

Working out with beach shoes

by Tally on November 23, 2010

Beach shoe used for working out at the gym and lifting weightsI have been researching barefooting since I learned of it a few weeks ago. I read about some runners using aqua shoes to run in. I am not too sure what aqua shoes are, but I remembered that I had a pair of beach shoes. I dug around and found them. The sole is rubber. The heel is not raised like every other shoe I have. They fit me loosely, but stay on my feet well.

I am not yet up to running outside, so I thought I would wear the beach shoes to the gym for my workouts. Doing so would also help me transition by getting my achilles tendons and calves used to no heel lift.

Wow! That was a good idea. Read more . . .

Intactivism: Week in Review November 20, 2010

by Tally on November 20, 2010

Infant circumcision violates human rights of the baby boy who has part of his sex organ cut offParents, protect your babies. Support intactivism. The following list includes blogs, articles, and websites of interest to Intactivists that were published in the past week. This is a running tally of the ones I found interesting.

The San Francisco, California, proposed ballot to ban male infant circumcision continues as a hot item in the news this week. I applaud and support Lloyd Schofield in his effort to promote bodily autonomy and genital integrity for children. The San Francisco MGM Bill website provides some basic information on the proposed ballot. Not everyone is in favor of banning male infant circumcision. In addition to the cut men who are in denial, Bay Area Jews are up in arms over the potential ballot initiative. Read about it here, here, and here.

mario piperni: Outlawing Male Circumcision
In a perfect world, perfect parents make perfect decisions. But, in this imperfect world of ours, imperfect parents sometimes require a little forceful guidance, such as a law telling them not to cut off part of their child's sex organ. Read more . . .

Barefooting!

by Tally on November 17, 2010

Barefoot feet ready for barefootin'Facebook is great. I learn about lots of new things from my many friends. A few weeks ago I read a comment from a facebook friend about running barefoot. Huh?

I never heard of running barefoot. Sure, kids do it all the time. But adults? On roads? On trails?

A quick Google search and a lot of reading taught me that there are many benefits to being barefoot.  There are even those that claim that modern shoes are over-designed. The cushy shoes, particularly running shoes, are more suitable for marketing than anything else. They are also claimed to be major contributors to injuries.

Since I am an alternative type of guy, the whole barefoot thing appeals to me. I ran track and cross-country in the early 70s. I continued to run after I went to college and after I began working. As I earned money, I could afford some of the "better" and more expensive shoes. As I worked more and more, my running dropped off.

I like this quote because, lately, running has not been fun: If you aren't having fun running, your technique is wrong. ~ Barehanded Matt Read more . . .

Berkeley Side: Berkeley native tackles circumcision in novel
An interview of the author of the book The Measure of His Grief. The book is about a Jewish doctor in contemporary Berkeley who wages a campaign against circumcision--and finds himself feeling more deeply Jewish in Jewish life in the process. The author seems to get it about circumcision. She discusses intactivism and foreskin restoration. I have not read the book, yet. I hope it is as good as it sounds.

Thank you, all who have served

by Tally on November 10, 2010

Draft cardLast week I was doing an aerobic workout at the gym. The movie World Trade Center was on one of the numerous televisions. I watched about two minutes of the movie before the credits started rolling. The credits included information on the many public workers who lost their lives on 9/11. Because the movie featured the Port Authority Police Department, the credits included a list of the Port Authority's 84 men and women who died that day.

As the names of those who died scrolled down the screen, I choked up. Seeing the names makes it much more real and personal to me.

This was not the first time that I choked up from seeing the names of those who died in service to others. Read more . . .

This has been a quiet week. Little has been written about intactivism and circumcision. If it only were because so few infant circumcisions were performed. I can dream.

I am still fat! Is there a pill I can take?

by Tally on November 4, 2010

Last week I wrote about realizing that I am overweight. So I started working out regularly, again. I worked out three times last week. I worked out twice so far this week and I am going to the gym this evening. I still have not been eating right, but I am doing a bit better than I had been. BUT I AM STILL FAT!

Seriously, I should be skinny by now. Isn't there a pill that works for this? Read more . . .
