    Donation to Intact America

    Tally,
I have followed your suggestion. Thanks for your help in my getting personally on record for genital integrity. There also was an Intact America petition to the pediatricians' association available for signatures, which is yet another way of going on record for the well-being of our children.

    Intact America

An organization that is very active in fighting for genital integrity is Intact America. They have a Donate button at the top right of their website. Intact America often has sponsors that match public donations dollar for dollar. Our donations have twice the impact, that way.

Intact America sponsors advertisements and they also lobby various doctor organizations and other groups as they battle to stop infant circumcision. Their website also includes a lot of information for parents on infant circumcision.

    I have them, too

I have pearly penile papules, too. They are lined up along the edge of my corona. They do not bother me and I only know they are there by looking at them. They are a part of my body and I have no intention to have them removed.

Some men are very concerned about the appearance of their penis and are seeking to have them removed. I recall that a doctor show on television did a segment on PPP and featured a man who had laser surgery to have them removed. You could use Google to find out about it.

To me, the penis is first and foremost a sensitive part of the body that provides great pleasure. No way would I ever consider having someone cut or operate on my penis unless it was absolutely necessary.

    Pimples on penis

I went to the docs thinking i had genital warts turned out they were pearly penile papules he told me they were normal and nothing could be done to remove them. Since then i have read about various methos of removal including surgical shaving and laser surgery. My question is has anyone any information on these treatments or are there anyone else out there who really wants to get rid of these eye sores.

    I have no idea

I suggest that you visit a urologist. I have not heard of anyone else with a similar problem. Meatal stenosis is a very common side effect of infant circumcision. Meatal stenosis is a narrowing of the opening of the urethra. It may be that you have meatal stenosis and it is resolving itself. A urologist should be able to tell you.

    I am concerned that my

I am concerned that my meatus, urethal opening is gradually getting longer.

The area underneath the opening is a little bit red along towards the frenulum and i think it is splitting along this line.

I have been circumcised since a very young age and the redness has always been there as long as i can remember. I have not thought it a big deal as there is no pain or discomfort but the direction of urine is more spread out recently and i am concerned the opening is splitting.

I don't know if this is something that can happen or what can be done to prevent it getting worse? Just hoping for some advice.

    Thanks.

    Surgery helped tremendously

It took several months, but I eventually started urinating like I had a water hose.

Unfortunately, the prostate continues to grow. HoLAP is usually stated as being good for 7 years versus a TURP which is usually 10 years or more. I am approaching the 3 year mark after my surgery. My stream is slower than it has been. But I can still completely empty myself. I still sleep all night without having to get up and urinate.

I did not take any meds other than antibiotics. The docs had me try FloMax, but it did not help me at all. I would prefer to have laser surgery rather than take meds.

    Thank you for the post.

So can you urinate easily now? Were you self-medicating before the operation?

    Thanks.

    Insurance covered my surgery

I have no idea what my HoLAP surgery cost. Insurance covered it.

My urologist has his office in the hospital, so my surgery was done in an operating room as an out-patient. Surgery is usually scheduled for about an hour. I had a general anesthesia and could have gone home after I woke up, except the fool nurse messed up when I was in post-op and I spent the night in the hospital.

I asked around to find a urologist. Ask another type of doctor, particularly an older one, who he would go to. I even had another urologist tell me if he needed one, he would go to my urologist. I thought that was a good recommendation. Ask a nurse. I do not rely on patients because most patients have no idea if the doc did a good job or not.

    revolix

Fantastic advice. Saw the video on utube. Much better than hoLAP.

    Finding good urologist not easy.

I have Medicare but good doctors want more. Could I ask you how much the complete procedure (everything) costs, roughly, where you are, including the expensive consultation? Hopefully with Medicare the total will be affordable. Urologists buy or lease the machine and their big cost is the laser fiber. And skill, of course. I don't know if they use their office or hospital OR's? Very expensive. Which did you do?

    Find a urologist

@leftbank, in order to have surgery on your prostate, you will need to consult a urologist. I suggest shopping around for a uroligist that has a good reputation and does surgery. Start with the local telephone book or even Google Local. Search for "urologist san francisco"

You should be able to get the answers to most of your questions from the front desk of the urologist's office orthe urologist.

A newer version of the HoLAP is the Revolix laser. My urologist is now using Revolix instead of HoLAP.

    holap surgery

Could anybody tell me who does holap surgery for a male with bhp? Does Medicare cover any of it and what is the approximate cost? I am in San Francisco. The bay area or LA would be best.

How would you go about finding the nearest hospital or surgeon who does it? UCSF does not offer it.

It's the only solution for what I've got, but I don't know where to find a surgeon or what it costs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You break new ground in women's sexual candour

I was a teenager in the 1960s, when having several sexual partners before one's first marriage became the American middle class norm. (I am an exception.) The older siblings of my contemporaries were having a lot of sexual encounters in college dorms, where the restrictions on getting together were fading rapidly. Thus for the first time, a few young American women, including my wife, could compare intact and cut partners. It is not rare at all for a young American woman to have a go at a sexual relationship with a European or Latin American or non-Muslim South Asian. Thus more than one woman intactivist was born; several women have revealed this autobiographical fact to me in private messages. I did not foresee, however, that this sexual freedom would eventually give rise to an intactivist groundswell among younger women. I am sure that women who think and post like Ms Taylor leave your typical USA obgyn gobsmacked!

Ms Taylor graphically reminds us that women are the "consumers" or "end users" of the tip of the penis. It's attached to a male body, but teleologically, it is part of the female intimate realm. The moving parts are there for women's pleasure and stimulation. Circumcision is most definitely a major issue for sex positive feminism.

Re: Thank you for writing on this

I'm SO sorry to hear of your pain. So many women are having this secondary impact from learning the truth about circumcision, or getting involved in the intactivist movement. It is particularly difficult for women who are committed to men who don't yet "get it" or are going through a (sometimes unrecognized) depression due to learning what happened to them. This is a culture -wide trauma, and you are definitely not alone. I recommend seeking out a support group for women affected by male circumcision. Try to keep in mind that not recognizing the loss is necessary for a lot of men for a while so that they can adjust to the shock. I hope that with your patient support, he will grow out of his avoidance phase, and begin to deal with it. Then perhaps he will be open to restoration, or at least address your intimacy concerns. Don't underestimate the power of the kiss!!! Best of luck to you. \ /,,

Thank you for writing on this

Thank you for writing on this subject!
I've only REALLY learned about circumcision within the last year and now every time I see my husband's cut penis I have feelings of grief and sadness. I think about what I'M missing and what he's missing (and doesn't care that he's missing). I think about what happened to him when he was so tiny. I feel like I'm being used rather than being connected with. And I don't see that these feelings will change in the foreseeable future. How can I live the rest of the my life this way?

    I love foreskin

Thankyou Aubrey, unfortunately what you say is just natural and needn't be said except for that fact that infant circumcision exists. I feel the same way about intact female genitals yet never need to say anything because there is no female circumcision in my culture.

    I love foreskin.

Aubrey, thank you for understanding the problems caused by circumcision and being so supportive of restoring men. Both my wife and I understood the damage done, but unfortunately (this was over fifty years ago) the information about non-surgical restoration was not available. Worse, it came too late for her to intimately know the improvement.
    Best regards.

    retainer

I've found that a polyurethane condom (eg Avanti), cut to about 4" length, makes a very effective retainer. I've been using the same one, washed now and then, for over a year.
