Birth Junkie: What does the baby think?
A mother says that she is "sorta a big ole fan of the science of things. I like studies and stats to back up things I am contemplating. It’s the number one reason that led me to such decisions as homebirth, breastfeeding, and not circumcizing . . . the science of it all." She describes how the medical industry runs births for their convenience and profit, regardless of the need or health for the baby.

Intact penises are not ugly

Intact penis art by Phallic CymbalsI hate, hate, HATE the arguments, "My son needs to be circumcised because girls will make fun of him if he isn't" or "It looks gross." These statements just highlight the fact that circumcision is a 100% cosmetic procedure, something that is done to make a boy conform to the aesthetic standards of his parents. Ok, for those of you who have never seen an intact, erect adult penis - here ya go. Now, was that so scary? It pretty much looks like an intact circumcised penis - or does it?

Circumcision removes healthy, important skin. It makes sense that this procedure would have some undesirable side effects. The problem is, since circumcision is so widespread, these problems seem NORMAL and are seen as acceptable! "I was circumcised and I was fine! But, my penis curves and my pubic hair extends onto the shaft. And it is two different colors. But that's all normal and unrelated." Scarring caused by the surgery is hardly noticeable to the average person, but once you realize that penises are not meant to look that way - the results are glaringly obvious. Read more . . .

Momma Crafty: Activism is Hard
A mother, who is an intactivist fighting for the right of babies to remain intact, discusses the good and bad of being an activist in a country where the sentiment is against her. She is optimistic, saying, "You never know when you’re going to change someone’s mind."

Loose circumcision or a short foreskin?

Drawing of circumcised penis showing exposed glans and an intact or uncircumcised penis showing the glans coveredSo here's my story. I’m 20 years old, and like approximately 60% of boys born in the United States the same year as me, I was circumcised. I assume this was just a regular RIC (routine infant circumcision), most likely taking place within a few hours or days of my birth. The issue of my penile intactness (or lack thereof) has never come up with my parents, not even once, so I’ve always just assumed that there were no unusual or noteworthy circumstances behind it.

Given that the topic never came up with my parents, I didn’t know what circumcision was until I was about 10, which I suppose is a pretty typical age to find that sort of thing out. I learned through a topic on the Off-Topic section of a message board I went on at the time (most people on that site were a little older than me). It was something like “What do you think of circumcision?”, but the topic creator didn’t really explain what circumcision was other than “Personally, I can’t imagine going through life without the tip of my penis.

Naturally, I assumed this meant cutting off the head - for me, that WAS the tip of my penis. So I looked it up on whatever search engine people used before Google to find out why anyone would ever do that. Lo and behold, I learned what circumcision *actually* was. But, there was one problem. Dr Momma Peaceful Parenting: Lives Changed: A Willingness to Speak Up
A mother of three boys describes how she recently learned that she blindly had her sons circumcised for no reason. She has since apologized to her sons for having part of their sex organs removed at birth.

no circumcision: Why Does Circumcision Persist
Parents have been misinformed by the medical community about circumcision, and they now are repeating the mistakes of the past, ingrained by familiarity and tradition. Doctors get paid extra fees, and hospitals also get paid a facility fee for each circumcision. The average amount invoiced to insurance carriers is on average $1500 per circumcision. Also, circumcised infants typically have longer hospital stays which increases revenue. Also, under the law, hospitals automatically retain ownership of harvested infant foreskin tissue. Neonatal tissue has unique stem cells and growth factors which are valuable. Hospitals can then sell infant foreskin tissue to bio-tech and cosmetic companies for further profit.

The Daily Guggie Daly: Confessions of a Mom who Witnessed Circumcision
A mother watches her infant son be circumcised. Fortunately for the baby, he was anesthesized with a dorsal block and was spared much of the pain of the circumcision.

The Daily Guggie Daly: Catholics who Circumcised, Do not Despair
Circumcision is strongly condemned and opposed by the Catholic Church. Unfortunately, many American Catholics believe circumcision is either inconsequential to their faith or a necessary practice of their faith.

Daily Sundial: Would an uncircumcised man be a stop sign in the bedroom?
Many comments to the post asking this question confirm that an intact penis, that is, one that is not circumcised, is desirable in the bedroom. "No, uncircumcised penis can be very welcome sight." "Women who have had sex with circumcised and intact men prefer intact men 8 to 1. (O'Hara)" See Women overwhelmingly prefer sex with a man who has a foreskin.

My foreskin has magical powers

table23 comedy does the Foreskin songtable 23 is a comedy troupe based out of the Tri-Cities, east of Vancouver, British Columbia.

table23 has a music video of their Foreskin song. The Foreskin song is a humorous take on a sensitive issue: the male genitalia. As table23 says, "Body Image is an important topic for young people. So why not sing a song about it?!" Canada stopped routine infant circumcision years ago, unlike the United States where most of the sexually active men are circumcised and have no idea of the value of the foreskin. The song shows the acceptance of foreskin among Canadians.

Vocalist Russ Brummer belts out, "My foreskin has magical powers" in a very convincing manner. The woman in the video looks suitably impressed by the power of his foreskin. Read more . . .

30 Month progress report for restoring my foreskin

30 month progress report for restoring my foreskinTwo and a half years ago, I started out with tight erections. Before I started restoring my foreskin, my skin was so tight that my erections were rock hard. I felt like I could drive a nail with my penis it was so hard. I thought that was normal.

My skin was taut when I was erect. If my erection subsided even a little bit, I would lose the rock hardness. I felt less of a man with my penis not being hard as a rock. I remember watching porn and occasionally seeing the man apparently lose his erection. At least, I assumed this when I would see his penis bend and flex, even though it looked erect. Little did I know that a normal erection is not rock hard. What I was seeing was a normal penis in operation.

Now, my skin is loose on my shaft when I am erect. It is very mobile as I experience the gliding action of my restored foreskin. When I am fully erect, my penis is stiff, but it is not rock hard like before. My glans is spongy. It is not pulled tight like it used to be. I am learning that I do not need to be rock hard to enjoy an erection. I no longer have that broomstick with a knob on the end described in Sex as Nature Intended It. Read more . . .

The graphic accompanying this post refers to my despair at how humans treat each other. Circumcision and genital cutting of children continues because parents allow it. Instead of protecting their children from harm, parents allow others to cut off parts of their children's genitals.

The Case Against Infant Circumcision: The Circumcision Lies 1
In order to continue and promote infant circumcison, circumcision advocates lie about the normal human anatomy, such as that the foreskin serves no function. They ignore that the foreskin is erogenous tissue.

The Daily Guggie Daly: Confessions of an Intact Teen
A 13 year old intact boy watched a circumcision video and had this to say: "It made me sick to my stomach. I can't believe the doctor did that to a baby. I can't believe people like that are allowed to walk free after torturing a baby on their most sensitive spot. Why did the dad just sit there? Why didn't the dad hit the doctor, push him away, grab his baby and run?" Read more . . .
