NY Daily News: End the barbaric cutting of baby boys
Georganne Chapin of Intact America responds to California Governor Brown's signing of the anti-anti-circumcision law. She points out the different treatment between sexes: it is OK to cut the genitals of boys but not girls. Sure there are differences between the sexes, but both involve altering the sex organs of children. Neither is right.

Dr Momma - Peaceful Parenting: Circumcision: I Changed My Mind
I mother, who did not want to have her newborn son circumcised, gave in to her husband's wishes. Her son was circumcised. When she had her second son, she put her foot down, but her husband did not insist on cutting his second son. Too bad she did not allow her mama bear instinct to protect her first son.

…and Baby Makes Five…: Labor Day, truly a labor of love…
A mother tells of how she wanted to have her newborn son circumcised, but her husband was against infant circumcision. He convinced her to research male infant circumcision. After looking into it, there was no way she was going to circumcise her son.

NY Daily News: Circumcision opposition grows in the U.S. as 'inactivists' look to end the common medical practice
An article in the Daily News about male infant circumcision. "In the United States, a vocal movement of "intactivists," or people who oppose male circumcision, is engaged in a fierce debate with doctors over the practice of clipping baby boys' foreskins." Some doctors, possibly threatened by a loss of a revenue stream, claim that infant circumcision is necessary to fight HIV and other STDs. Hmmm. Are there that many baby boys out there having sex that we need to worry about sexually transmitted diseases?

The Atheist Rabbi: A Resource Guide To The "Intactivist" (No Circumcision) Movement
A list of intactivist links and quotes regarding Jewish circumcision and the Jews who do not circumcise their boys.

Dr Momma - Peaceful Parenting: Ignite Bend: What is an Intactivist?
Twenty Power Points slides and 20 minutes. That is all he was allowed to discuss his topic, Intactivism. Steve Crozier packed a lot within those limits. He held the attention of his audience and educated them about male infant circumcision while giving them reasons why male infant circumcision needs to stop.

Beyond the Bris: Refusing to Close the Book: An Interview With Lisa Braver Moss
The author of The Measure of His Grief, Lisa Braver Moss is interviewed about her intactivism. She has devoted a lot of effort to articulating an anti-circumcision view consistent with Jewish law and thought.

Boulder Jewish News: The Unkindest Cut?
A piece on the documentary Cut: Slicing Through the Myths of Circumcision scheduled to be shown in Boulder, Colorado on October 18.

Politics and Government: How IS circumcision of newborns legal anyway?
Such a simple question. Tattoo a child - go to jail. Have part of a baby boy's sex organ cut off - no problem.

infocirc: Penile and Foreskin Neurology: Circumcision is quite damaging
This blogger has a copy of the video along with the transcript of Ken McGrath, Senior Lecturer in Pathology at the Faculty of Health, Auckland University of Technology and Member of the New Zealand Institute of Medical Laboratory Scientists. Professor McGrath discusses his research into the neural anatomy of the human penis and the physical damages caused by circumcision.

Boulder Weekly: Film questions the practice of circumcision
A news report about the documentary Cut: Slicing Through the Myths of Circumcision scheduled to be shown in Boulder, Colorado. The article provides a counter-viewpoint by a Jewish rabbi, who disagrees with the idea of stopping genital cutting of baby boys.

Men do complain: New Ideas
Adopting new ideas is only difficult when it requires moving away from old ones. Our circumcision cultures has great resistance to the new idea that circumcision of a healthy boy is a harmful act.

The WHOLE Network:  New Study: Australia Rejects Circumcision as a Preventative for HIV
"Circumcision of infants or other minors has no place among HIV control measures in the Australian and New Zealand context; proposals such as these [male infant circumcision] should be rejected." By the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health.

The WHOLE Network: Red Foreskins in Children: What Does it Mean?
An answer to a question about care of an intact penis. Not circumcising a boy means he grows up with a foreskin. But how to care for that foreskin? An intact infant's penis requires no special care. Occasionally, parents may notice a red color at the tip of the foreskin, which indicates irritation. For an infant, irritation may be a result of washing the penis with soap or too infrequent diaper changes.

Straight.com Blogra: Cut: Slicing Through the Myths of Circumcision coming to Vancouver
A report that the Canadian Foreskin Awareness Project (with founder Glen Callender) and the WHOLE Network, a grassroots non-profit organization that provides circumcision information, will present a screening of the documentary Cut: Slicing Through the Myths of Circumcision in Vancouver at the Roundhouse Community Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews) on October 24 at 8:15 p.m.

#1 ...And Baby Makes Five...

Submitted by Merry (not verified) on Fri, 11/04/2011 - 1:00am.

You mentioned my post in this Week in Review, which spurred me to write another post dedicated solely to the emotions and reasons that drove the choice my husband and I made to not circumcise our son. I feel very flattered that you felt my one paragraph buried in a bunch of other news was good enough to merit inclusion.

Thank you!!!
