Thymos: Journal of Boyhood Studies: Genital Integrity and Genital Equity
A journal article on how genital integrity advocates struggle to safeguard all children from genital cutting. Gender equity activists promote true equality of men and women. Commonalities and differences between the two movements are very illuminating.

Thymos: Journal of Boyhood Studies: Lost Boys: An Estimate of U.S. Circumcision-Related Infant Deaths
Study finds approx. 117 baby boys die each year in the US from male infant circumcision.  The number of baby boys that die from infant circumcision is about equal to the number of deaths of boys by sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

International Coalition for Genital Integrity: Infant circumcision causes 100 deaths each year in US
Report of a new study that finds approximately 117 neonatal circumcision-related (infant circumcision) deaths occur annually in the United States. This is about the same number of deaths of boys by sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The study also identified reasons why accurate data on these deaths are not available, some of the obstacles to preventing these deaths, and some solutions to overcome them.

The local: Doctors refuse to perform circumcisions
Doctors in Sweden are refusing to perform male infant circumcisions when not medically required. The doctors wish to divert their resources to medically required procedures instead of performing non-medically required male infant circumcision.

On Point: Advances in Regenerative Medicine
An NPR program discussing the medical advances, and the ethics, relating to regenerating organs and body parts. Although the program did not cover foreskin restoration, the research may well prove beneficial for victims of circmcision some time in the future.

DrMomma Peaceful Parenting: Cervical Cancer: A Reason for Circumcision?
Information on the myth of the relation between cervical cancer and male circumcision. Sexual behavior, not circumcision status, is the most important factor in susceptibility of cervical cancer.

DrMomma Peaceful Parenting: Male Circumcision & Cervical Cancer
Copy of position statement by NOCIRC and DOC (National Organization of Circumcision Information and Resource Centers and Doctors Opposing Circumcision).  A recent study is flawed and provides insufficient evidence to support a change in the position that male infant circumcision is not warranted for cervical cancer prevention.

DrMomma Peaceful Parenting: Cervical Cancer & Circumcision
In February 1996, representatives of the American Cancer Society (ACS) stated in a letter to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP): "The American Cancer Society does not consider routine circumcision to be a valid or effective measure to prevent [genital] cancers."

Strollerderby: Swedish Doctors Stop Circumcisions
A report of how doctors in Sweden are taking a stand against male infant circumcision.

DrMomma Peaceful Parenting: Stepping Away from Friendship in the Name of Human Rights
Many parents take it personally when others say that infant circumcision is mutilation and like child abuse. "He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetuate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it." Martin L. King, Jr.

Cognito's Thoughts: Why I Will Never Attend A Brit Milah
A very succinct analysis of the bias in a recent study that tries to link circumcision status with HPV. The author shows why the data does not support the statements in the abstract.

Modern Paleo: Why I Will Never Attend A Brit Milah
The author discusses Cognito's thoughts above: "Opposition to circumcision is a straightforward consequence of the Objectivist view of that each person has a right to his own life. That includes the right of the child to be free from bodily mutilation, even when inflicted by loving, well-meaning parents. Moreover, Objectivism does not regard the claims of religion as having any moral authority, and it regards sexual pleasure as good."

IntactbyDefault: Dialog on AAP's new Female Genital Cutting policy
The American Academy of Pediatrics has released it's Policy Statement on Ritual Genital Cutting of Female Minors. The new Policy changes female genital mutilation (FGM) to female genital cutting (FGC), obstensibly to soften the public perception of genital alterations of children.

IntactByDefault: Girls Protection Act provides girls less protection than MGMBill
A discussion of a recently proposed amendments to the federal female genital mutilation (FGM) law. H.R. 5137, Girls Protection Act of 2010 was introduced in the 111th Congress on April 26, 2010. MGMBill, Genital Mutilation Prohibition Act has not yet been sponsored in Congress.
