Idiot America: How Stupidity Became a Virtue in the Land of the Free

by Tally on April 24, 2010

Idiot America: How Stupidity Became a Virtue in the Land of the FreeI do not consider myself an intellectual, although I am educated. I have an engineering degree. I read on many diverse topics. I attempt to learn one new thing every day. I may listen to the opinions of others, but I am typically skeptical and do not blindly believe everything I hear and see.

But, when I look around me, I sometimes think that I am the only one not swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool. The world around me seems to be filled with idiots. Fortunately, I am not the only one that has this same feeling.

The book, Idiot America: How Stupidity Became a Virtue in the Land of the Free, is a humorous look at the dumbing down of America. We see it all around us. Death panels will put old folks to death. The end of civilization is near because the President is doing, or not doing, something. Conspiracy theories abound. Read more . . .

Information Overload Syndrome - IOS

by Tally on April 16, 2010

Information overload syndrome - IOS: a leading cause of burnoutWith the advent of the Internet and pocket sized computing devices, we are inundated with information. We can work 24/7. We can look up all kinds of useless information. We can follow the daily lives of celebrities and other people for no reason whatsoever. We can drive down the freeway with a cell phone held up to one ear and a laptop computer on the seat beside us, while we are looking at a notebook. Read more . . .

Back Pain: How I made the pain stop

by Tally on April 7, 2010

Treat your Own Back by Doctor Robin McKenzie I have lifted weights for most of my life. I always try to use proper form in all my lifts. I consider this very important because there was one time when I did not. About 20 years ago I worked out in the mornings with a coworker. On one particular morning we were working legs.

We had not done deadlifts before. I had read up on them and thought I knew how to do them. Unfortunately, I had too much weight on the bar for my first attempt. Even though I was in fairly good shape, the combination of too much weight and unfamiliarity with the exercise was a bad combination. Halfway up I felt a sharp stabbing pain in my back. I tried to finish the lift but it was all I could do to lower it to the platform. To make matters worse, my friend easily deadlifted it right after me.

I knew I had done something to my back. I gritted my teeth and finished a very light workout. I made it home, took a shower, and realized that I could not move very well. I collapsed in bed, face down, and stayed that way for the rest of the day. Read more . . .

We have the power to make a difference

BBC Superpower: We have the power to change the world through the Internet

I came across this video on Facebook and found it very powerful.

As I began watching the video, I did not know what to think of it. Towards the end I grokked the message. I got shivers up and down my body as I finished watching the video. The video is right. We do have the power.

Magic Briefs: How to retain your foreskin without trying

by Tally on April 1, 2010

Magic Briefs as a foreskin retainer holding my foreskin forward and over my glans penisI frequent several foreskin restoration forums and websites. A member of one of those sites calls my underwear "magic briefs" because I keep talking about how my briefs keep my skin forward over my glans.

About two months after I started restoring my foreskin, my inner foreskin remnant started getting so sensitive that it was irritating for it to rub against the cloth of my shorts. So, I started wearing a baby bottle nipple retainer whenever I was not tugging.

Wearing a foreskin retainer made the problem worse. With my skin covered all the time, my inner forskin remnant and my glans dekeratinized, becoming even more sensitive. I needed to make sure that my newly sensitive skin was always protected. When I did not wear a retainer, the irritation was very distracting. Fortunately, as my foreskin grew longer, it was easier to keep my glans covered with a retainer and it became much less of a problem. I wore a foreskin retainer whenever I was not tugging.
